Software Engineer, AI & Automation

Product & EngineeringRemote (US)Full Time

Flossy builds AI software that helps appointment-based practices book more appointments, reduce administrative work, and improve business performance. Our platform brings together Fiona for patient communication and scheduling, Betsy for marketing and call center insights, Michael for insurance and billing, and Reid for revenue and staffing intelligence. We help teams connect everyday interactions and operational data to useful actions across their locations.

We're looking for someone who can take an ambiguous customer problem, determine what matters, ship a practical solution, and follow through until it works in daily use.

About the role

We're seeking a Software Engineer to help shape and build AI products across Flossy's platform. Your work could span patient communication, business intelligence, workflow automation, and operational optimization, connecting customer needs to software that helps practices run better.

You'll work directly with company leadership and customer operators to turn complex business problems into reliable software. This is a hands-on role spanning customer discovery, product decisions, user experience, engineering, and production operations. You'll use AI coding agents throughout development and take responsibility for the quality of the result.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with frontline staff, managers, and executives to understand workflows, business goals, and operational constraints.

  • Translate customer conversations into clear requirements, priorities, and testable product behavior.

  • Design straightforward interfaces that make complex information and workflows understandable and easy to act on.

  • Build across the frontend, backend, database, and integrations, using AI development tools to accelerate delivery while reviewing and verifying their output.

  • Build AI-powered features and automation workflows with explicit business rules, appropriate approvals, and a clear history of actions and outcomes.

  • Investigate incomplete data, unexpected API behavior, and production issues; carry fixes through testing, release, and verification.

  • Measure whether shipped work improves adoption, customer experience, staff efficiency, and business performance.

  • Own meaningful product areas independently, communicate tradeoffs clearly, and surface decisions that need broader input.

Requirements

  • A track record of taking a product or substantial workflow from an unclear problem to successful production use.

  • Strong product judgment and the ability to connect customer needs, user experience, technical decisions, and business outcomes.

  • Hands-on engineering ability across modern web applications, APIs, relational databases, and cloud deployment, including the ability to inspect code and debug across systems.

  • Practical experience using AI coding agents: defining tasks, providing context, evaluating proposed changes, and verifying correctness.

  • Comfort working with third-party integrations, imperfect documentation, inconsistent data, and complex business rules.

  • Good interaction and visual judgment, with attention to language, workflow clarity, and the details that make software easy to use.

  • Clear communication with technical colleagues, business operators, and company leadership.

  • The initiative to move work forward independently and the judgment to balance delivery speed with production reliability.

Technologies you may work with include TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud, alongside third-party APIs and AI services. Experience with these technologies is helpful; demonstrated ability to learn unfamiliar systems and deliver reliable software matters more than an exact stack match. Experience with business software, conversational AI, analytics, workflow automation, or healthcare and service-business operations is a plus.

How to apply

  • Submit your resume or professional profile and examples of products or workflows you’ve shipped.

  • Walk us through one project you owned from problem to production: the business need, your decisions, what you personally built, and the outcome for users.

  • Explain how you used AI development tools, how you checked their work, and an example of a mistake or limitation you caught.

Why Flossy?
